Case study

A property site that treats every development as a living project

Vela Homes needed a site where developments could be published, updated and retired by the sales team, without the layout falling apart as a scheme sells out.

Concept project: an illustrative case study, not a client engagement.

  1. Challenge

Developments were being added as one-off pages, so no two looked alike and none could be filtered or compared. As units sold, pages went stale because updating them meant rebuilding them. The sales team had stopped trusting the site.

  2. Opportunity

A development is a well-defined thing: it has a location, a status, a set of plot types and a release timeline. Modelling it properly would make listings consistent, filterable and current without anyone designing a page.

  3. Strategy

We defined the development as a content type with its own fields and relationships, then designed one template that reads well whether a scheme has three plot types or fifteen. Brand work ran alongside it so the tone held across a growing set of pages.

  4. Execution

Migrated the existing developments into the new model, trained the sales team on it, and handed over documentation. Status changes are now a field, not a rebuild.

We had stopped updating the old site because it was quicker to send a PDF. That is not true any more. The team publishes a new development themselves, and it looks the same as every other one.
